ZOUK ist ein Musikstil und ein Tanz mit Ursprung in Martinique und Guadeloupe, den französischsprachigen Inseln in der Karibik und ist zu unterscheiden vom afrikanischen Zouk. Zouk von den sonnenverwöhnten karibischen Inseln der kleinen Antillen heist auf kreolisch "Feier" und drückt reine Lebensfreude aus. Gespielt wird er in der Salsaszene besonders in Brasilien, den Niederlanden und in Frankreich. Zouk wird in den Musikläden und auf der Internetplattform von Musica Latina angeboten. Die Gruppe Kassav hat den Zouk weltweit bekannt gemacht.

Zouk Brasil ist eine Weiterentwicklung des ursprünglichen Zouk aus der Karibik und kommt aus Brasilien. Dort enthält der Zouk je nach Variante Einflüsse von Salsa, Lambada, Samba, Hip Hop u.a. Die verbreiteste Variante wird Zouk Brasil genannt und zeichnet sich durch runde, fließende Bewegungen aus. Zouk Brasil ist seit ein paar Jahren sehr beliebt auf den Niederländischen Inseln der Karibik, in Amsterdam, London, Zürich, Barcelona und Stockholm aber auch in Frankreich, in Paris, Cannes und Nice ist Zouk Brasil sehr beliebt.
In Deutschland ist eine Zoukszene erst im entstehen. Von Tanzschulen angeboten wird Zouk Brasil in Bonn, Köln, Bremen, Hamburg und München.
